Spotlights of Manhattan
Times Square
As the crown jewel of Manhattan's Midtown, Times Square is more than just a tourist destination—it's where tons of international businesses, retailers, and eateries converge into one massive thoroughfare. Times Square is close to Broadway's iconic theaters, and it also hosts an annual New Year's Eve celebration. More than 50 million visitors pass through Times Square each year, largely thanks to destinations like the Hard Rock Cafe and M&M World.
Central Park
There's no green space that's more iconic than Central Park. This natural oasis spans for more than 800 acres, boasting everything from a zoo to event venues and an intricate network of trails. Locals love bringing kids and furry friends here to explore, and you can also stay active at the park's baseball fields, tennis courts, and even ice-skating rinks. If you really want to experience Central Park like a Manhattanite, try going for a horse and carriage ride or catching a live performance on the Mall.
The Met
Originally established in 1870, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the United States. In total, its permanent collection offers two million works divided into 17 different cultural departments. Here, you'll discover everything from ancient relics to Medieval armor and plenty of iconic paintings, including works by Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso. The Met regularly hosts concerts and events, as well as a rotating selection of curated exhibitions.

Living in Manhattan
Manhattan might be one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, but what does it mean to call this unique city home? Let's delve into a few one-of-a-kind perks that come with living in the middle of the Big Apple.
Culture and Amenities
Not only is Manhattan home to the Financial District of New York (and much of the U.S., like Wall Street, the World Trade Center, and the Stock Exchange, as well numerous corporate headquarters across every industry), it’s also home to some of the world’s most visited attractions, like Times Square, the extensive Central Park, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
It’s been the site of important cultural movements throughout history, like the Harlem Renaissance, the Stonewall Riots, and the American Pop Art movement. Here, you’ll experience the finest professional theatre in the world on Broadway, discover the world’s artistic masterpieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or MoMa, witness some of the most famous parades and festivals in the US, like the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade, and really find out what it means to live in the “city that never sleeps.”
Shopping and Dining
It's safe to say that Manhattan is the retail and culinary capital of the world—and one visit to some of the area's best restaurants or shops is all it takes to see why. If you want to experience the best of Manhattan, we recommend enjoying a meal at Carmine's, an iconic Italian joint with fabulous views of Times Square. Junior's Restaurant & Bakery has some of the best cheesecakes around, and you won't want to miss some famous dollar-slice pizzas from the borough's hole-in-the-wall pizzerias.
Ready to shop 'til you drop? Manhattan is home to a number of iconic flagship stores, including Macy's, Apple, and Nordstrom. The Shops at Columbus Circle and Brookfield Place offer even more top-notch retailers.
Manhattan's Neighborhoods
Manhattan’s neighborhoods are as astoundingly diverse as the city of New York itself. Experience everything from bohemian flair in Greenwich Village or the extravagant Upper East Side to the rich foreign experiences of Chinatown, Koreatown, or Little Italy. Discover the upscale shopping of SoHo, the art industry and robust nightlife of Chelsea, or the poignant history of Harlem.
Public Transportation
Most residents in Manhattan don't use cars to get around. An expansive public transportation network and easily traversable sidewalks make it easy to commute just about anywhere—in fact, it can actually be much more inconvenient to drive than to simply hop on the subway. In total, the NYC Subway has over 150 stations in Manhattan, while the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) links Manhattan to New Jersey. Commuter rail connects to Long Island and New Jersey via Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and NJ Transit. There’s also the NYC Bus run by MTA New York City Transit, the NYC Ferry to NJ, and the Staten Island Ferry.
